An Interview with "Heartland Boy"

This year's last interview for the Interview Series will be with Heartland Boy . His blog mainly talks about personal finance matters. But once in a while, he will write about his stock investments and his thoughts about them. I went for his seminar previously and wrote a review on it. Till now, I am still very captivated about including TA techniques within Fundamental Analysis. Nowadays, other than using Fundamental Scorecard Website , I will also use InvestingNote Chart to assess the TA of each counter (Previously I did not even bother much about the 50 days MA or 150 days MA) . I am even considering incorporating TA techniques into the Ultimate Scorecard currently  (But that is another story...) . Without further ado, let's get straight to the interview questions and his answers! 1. Tell us more about yourself. How did you get into investing? Heartland Boy: I am a young working adult who took up the challenge of working in Indonesia last year. My stint in Indon...

Interview with "Reader Who Uses The Scorecard Method"

I will like to apologize for the delay in posting. I had wanted to do a "Reasons to come for the Investing Workshop" post on Sunday, but it ended up sounding too HARD-SELLING, thus I reverted it to draft instead. However, the short publication got "crawled" into my InvestingNote page and some people seem to be quite turn off by it. I guess I made the right choice in turning the post into draft. Anyway back to the main topic...  This will be an interview with the "Reader" whom had supported me since late 2016. Not only has he read my blog regularly, he has also came for my seminars numerous times and followed my scorecard method since the " Enhanced Triple S Scorecard " days. The reason I interviewed him was because I felt he was a bit different from the regular investors. Most investors seems to focus on news, financials or charts. But from my conversion with him, he get inspirations from observing "businesses around him" (Somethi...

An Interview With "ozxinvest"

Image
I have never met him. But I have always interact with him on InvestingNote and find him to be a very patient and disciplined investor. It was what he wrote that make me notice him. Just read the messages he wrote below? Make you really want to invest right? In addition, if you follow him on InvestingNote, you will realise that he is a very good investor as well. Almost all his counters have made significant gains this year. In my view, he is more like a fundamental "story" investor. He invest when he believes in a certain "story" of a counter and he will ignore all noises until the "story" plays out. Once the "story" plays out, significant gains will be made. My perception of him maybe wrong at the end of the day, but that's most probably because I am always so tempted to invest along with him whenever I read his "stories". Without further ado, let's get straight to the interview questions and his answers! ...

An Interview with a Financial Service Agent

Having done many interviews with bloggers and other exceptional retail investors, I thought it will be a fresh change to have an interview with someone in the financial service sector. Furthermore, T.U.B Investing is always about stocks and investing, so talking about personal finance will be hopefully bring about something different. Therefore, I decided to interview my friend, Poh Lin (Poh) . Other than being my financial service agent, he is also my ex-colleague, a fellow investor and a very good friend. Currently he is also a collaborator for my investing workshops, such as the one that will be coming up this month . Thus, do take note that the 1st 20 mins of all my future workshops will mostly probably be taken up by him. When I knew Poh had become a financial service agent, I started asking him more about insurance. The most interesting thing that happened was that I decided to have a review with him and end up cancelling some of the insurance I had instead of buy...

An Interview with the Stanley of "Value Invest Asia"

Image
I met Stanley at an meet up organised by InvestingNote previously. Both of us arrived fashionably late and I was quite surprised when he introduced himself. This is because, at that time, I was already following Value Invest Asia Facebook Page and reading about their regular write-ups. Through our conservation, I find out that he is also a CFA and is very knowledgeable about valuation techniques. I also understand that he is also writing on a book - "Value Investing in Asia : The Definitive Guide to Investing in Asia" - that will only be launched in November. You can read all about it on Book Depository and Amazon . I can't wait to get my hands on it! Let's not also forget - He has also just conducted a seminar with InvestingNote  and I can't make it due to "permission not granted". Nevertheless, it seem like those that attended the session has found it to be fruitful. Without further ado, let's get straight to the interview q...

An Interview With "Simple Investor SG"

Image
For this month interview, I will be interviewing "Simple Investor". He is the owner of the Simple Investor SG website, which provides the " Full Analysis V14 ". We actually knew each other when he came to my Sharing Session last year. But our friendship only developed when we found each other on the InvestingNote platform again early this year. His investing style was more directed towards growth counters with a business edge, while I am influenced more by value investing and contrarian thoughts. Despite us continuing to agree to disagree on many aspects of our individual investing methods, but he was the one that told me to " Invest in ideas you believe in the most ". He was also the one whom help me realised that NikkoAM-StraitsTrading Asia ex Japan REIT ETF is itself a diversification mechanism. This made me realise that, as investors, we should be open minded and be ready to hear what others has to say. You will never know when a conversa...

An Interview With Faye Wang

Image
For this month's interviewee, you may not really know her (yup, at last, an interviewee that is a female!) , but she is actually a stock market analyst on InvestingNote. I first noticed her was when she posted her analysis of Sheng Shiong on InvestingNote. It was quite detailed and seems to have addressed some of the changes in Sheng Shiong over the last few years. She has also continued to contribute to several articles on The Signal Blog , which I felt were interesting and provide a good overview of the counters as well as its respective industry. Therefore, with this interview, I felt it will be good for us to know her better and understand her thought process when she invest or analysis.  Without further ado, let's get straight to the interview questions and her answers! 1. Tell us more about yourself and why did you join investingnote? Faye: My name is Faye Wang. I read economies in my undergraduate years, and found myself extremely interested in co...

An Interview With "BULLytheBEAR"

The next person appearing on my interview series is " BULLytheBEAR ", as he is known within the blogosphere and InvestingNote platform. He has been in the finance blogsphere long before I started my blog. Despite being so much more famous/popular than me, whenever I chatted with him on any of the platforms, he is always ready to help. My initial impression of him is that he is a FA investor (maybe because he is a tutor?) . But after learning more about him, I realised he is actually more of a TA investor. However, if you read his blog, you will seldom find any trances of TA on his blog (maybe only in his older posts) . His blog posts also always tend to be are quite deep and, in my opinion, a deep person always tend to be more FA. But he proved me wrong. Anyway, his new role as a father will definitely keep him busy for a while (Congratulations!) and I am just glad he agreed to my interview! Without further ado, let's get straight to the interview questions and ...

An Interview with "Wellhandy"

This will be the 3rd interview for the year. So here we have "Wellhandy" as he is known as on InvestingNote platform. To me, he is more of a TA person because he is always taking about red line, blue line and pink line. For some time, I keep wondering if he is taking about our MRT station (Just kidding!) . Joke aside, as many of you have known, I know nuts about TA or any of the coloured line. This is where Wellhandy has always been helping me along the way. He will give me hints of what to look out for. Every advice has provided me with additional insights of how each counter's share price may move. Without further ado, let's get straight to the interview questions and "Wellhandy" answers! 1. Tell us more about yourself.  Wellhandy: I see myself as inclined similarly towards both FA and TA and as a 'buy and hold'er: I buy and hold different things for different periods at different times. In terms of buying and selling transactions, th...

As stated in the last post of 2016, I am restarting the interview series. I will try to have an interview with an interesting investor every month in 2017. For Jan, I will start with interviewing SG Thumbtack Investor  aka SG TTI. If you have yet to read his blog , I urged you to do so soon. I only knew about his blog after he sent me an email to exchange on a guest post . Right now, I constantly read his blog posts. They always amazed me. An Interview with "B"

This is a new series that I will be doing - either to get people to put up guest post or doing interview with bloggers. Today, I have the honour of interviewing "B", the owner of blog, A Path to Forever Financial Freedom . His blog first caught my eye cause of the way he invests and the goal of achieving financial freedom. We seem to be on the same path but different ways and different methods. At times, he will provide his comments on my facebook posts and his comments are always very insightful. Without further ado, let's get straight to the interview questions and "B" answers! 1.
