A Letter to My Fundamental Scorecard Website Subscribers

Image
Dear Subscribers of Fundamental Scorecard, Thank you for continuing to subscribe to us. The database has been updated. How have you been? As the 3rd quarter draws to a close, this year seems to give us a peak towards a pre-crisis market. Having a long-term mindset, we try our best to understand Mr Market while holding our core investing principles firm. This resulted me in changing The Ultimate Scorecard once again (without change name) . As I have stated previously, I removed the dividend scorecard portion and expanded on the valuation portion. Currently, the expanded valuation portion acts as a separate calculation of the valuation of the company based on the free cash flow it generated. It is called Estimated Valuation . It is an estimation of the value of the company based on 1. 0% growth; and  2. a series of discount rate ranging from 15% to 30%; and 3. The last 5 years of free cash flow it generated There is a second check on the valuation based on Gra...

The Super Scorecard

Image
Many of you will know that I created the Enhanced Triple S Scorecard with Dividend Scorecard Portion to look for a way to have a consistent view of looking for undervalued counters and counters that is able to provide at least 5% dividend yield for the next year. However, as explained in the " Different Methods of Investment " post, I engaged in other ways of investing because of the bullish feel of the Singapore Stock Market as well as the requirement to utilize the excess cash I was holding (it was just a bit too much) . Thus, those that followed me will have knew that I went for some short term investment recently (invest with a shorter timeframe of 3 to 6 months in mind) with SUCCESS ! As a result, I started thinking if it was possible to find undervalued counters via the scorecard (1) that has the possibility of rising and making capital gain; and (2) over a shorter period of 6 months to 1 year. So I started my research (with a small sample size of 8 differe...

Amendment to "I Found A Catalyst In This Company" Post

Image
Do note that there are some inaccuracies from the expected figures stated in the previous post on BBR Holdings (S) Ltd as pointed out by SG Thumbtack Investor . I will be pasting the comments here for easy viewing: In addition to what he commented, I like to emphasize that this analysis is based on the fact that: - Lakelife Executive Condo is fully sold by the 4th Quarter of 2016; - All revenue and net profit from Lakelife Executive Condo is recognised and return as cash to BBR Holdings (S) Ltd immediately; - Loan from Associates of $20 Million, as stated in the 3rd Quarter financials remains the same and will be returned fully upon the complete sale of Lakelife Executive Condo. - etc... (There could still be many other assumptions in place which i did not recognised). I have also realised an error in my input of dividend for the year of 2016. Upon making the changes, the Enhanced Triple S Scorecard with Dividend Yield Portion change into the following: ...

"I Found A Catalyst In This Company"

Image
Update on 6 Dec 2016: Do read the comments on additional information from SG Thumbtack Investor.  I will also be doing an amendment to this post following some inaccurate information I may have placed in the scorecard. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. However, my conclusion stands - there is no turning back! Recently this company caught my eye when someone compared it to TTJ Holdings Ltd on valuebuddies. This comment is by Ksir on valuebuddies After reading the comment, I took a look at its latest financial statements and spotted this specific paragraph; This paragraph amazed me. This is because I remembered I read SG Thumbtack Investor blog posts ( here and here ) on this company before. Quoted from the 2nd post, SG Thumbtack Investor stated that "...upon TOP, the company’s income statement will show a nice boost to earnings of approximately 6.5 cents, and the balance sheet will have a mega boost to cash and cash equivalents of ($19.9 mil due to it’s 35% s...

"This is the Gem I was talking about"

Image
Update on 29 Nov 2016: Just realise as per 26 Sep 2016 there was an off-market transaction for Star Attraction Limited of 4.47M of shares at 1.455. Privatisation is highly possible. Previously, I had said that through the InvestingNote platform, I was able to find a gem from one of the thread discussion. I had also talk about this company in another of my previous post . This company is Wheelock Properties (Singapore) Limited . In the past, I was very skeptical about this company as its ultimate shareholder, Wheelock and Company Limited, is located in Hongkong. I had some bad experience of holding listed entities (Top Global Ltd) with overseas parent company before. Thus, I was not ready to take the plunge then. It was after some deep analysis and numerous reading that I decided to invest in this company. Do note that this is not part of my dividend series. Profile In Short (Directly taken from Company's website) ...

Is Fraser Centrepoint Ltd still the best?

Image
Update 17 Nov 2016: Please note that as per Scorecard comparison below, Amara Holdings Ltd should deserved a "yellow cell" for having the lowest Last 12 Months PE. Thus, this will basically change the Fraser Centrepoint Ltd from 5 yellow cells to 4 yellow cells - Which Meant the company is no longer the BEST! Nevertheless, its Last 12 Months PE is still the 2nd lowest. If you remember my last in-depth analysis post on Fraser Centrepoint Ltd, you will know that I did that with a comparison with 4 other companies. After Fraser Centrepoint Ltd released their 4th Quarter results and announced another 6.2 cents of final dividend, I decided to do another update on this company. However, this time, I added Wheelock Properties Ltd and Amara Holdings Ltd into the comparison mix. The table below shows the comparison of my Enhanced Triple S Scorecard criteria across 7 different companies - Capitaland Ltd, Fraser Centrepoint Ltd, UIC Ltd, OUE Ltd, Far East Orchard Ltd, Whe...

"One With Dormitory Business"

Image
As per my previous post, I will be writing about "One with the dormitory business". I am not sure if your guess is correct. But the stock that I will be writing about is - Centurion Corporation Limited. Do note that this is not part of my dividend series. Profile In Short (Directly taken from AR2015) Centurion Corporation Limited is one of Singapore’s largest workers and student accommodation owner-operators. It owns, develops and manages quality workers  accommodation assets in Singapore and Malaysia, as well as student accommodation assets in Singapore, Australia and the United Kingdom. Established in 1981 as an audio cassette tape manufacturing business in Singapore, it became one of the market leaders in the optical storage media industry and was listed on the mainboard of the Singapore Exchange in 1995. Following a reverse acquisition exercise in 2011, the Group successfully diversified into the accommodation business to capture growth opportunities in this ...

My In-depth Analysis of Fraser Centrepoint Limited

Image
Influenced by B’s post , I went into the in-depth analysis of Fraser Centrepoint Limited. Actually, this stock has been on my watchlist for ages. But I decided to postpone it as I was busy at work and also busy with promoting the Dividend Scorecard as well as my sharing sessions. Nevertheless, after my in-depth analysis, I made the purchase of Fraser Centrepoint Limited. The reason of my in-action previously was that I am unable to find the answer to this question - “Why choose Fraser Centrepoint Ltd over the other listed firms which are in the same industry?” The 2nd question I had on my mind is that - “Why not choose a REIT if you want a high dividend yield?” I found the answer pretty quickly to the 2nd question: In my opinion, REITs is mainly purchased for the dividend yield. But for a REIT to grow, it may need to do a rights issue, which may dilute my shares in future. This is something I am not keen on. Furthermore, some REI...
