Big Idea 4 & Big Idea 6 - SOLD!

Image
I have officially disposed all my positions in Big Idea 4 and Big Idea 6 . Since I have already sold, I will reveal what Big Idea 4 and Big Idea 6 are. Big Idea 4 is…Ellipsiz Ltd. In my last post, I have stated that “In 2 months’ time, it will announce its full year results and more answers on the use of its cash pile could be reveal in its financial report. Therefore, I will decide then on what to do with this company….” After the release of the annual report and receiving a reply from the investor relations, I have decided to offload all my position in Ellipsiz Ltd at a loss. Nevertheless, do note that this loss was based on my re-entered price. I had previously made a 280% gain on the company prior to selling all at its peak. So what were the factors that caused me to sell off this Big Idea? 1. Annual Report Abstract from Latest Annual Report In the above abstract, it seem like the Lums are intending to use this company as their investment holding firms. Other than i...

What Had I Been Up To?

Image
Firstly, before I start, it will be good to inform everyone again on our Face-to Face Ask-Us-Anything session on 16 Jan 2018. Details of the event are listed in this post . If you are interested to come, just come along that evening. So What Had I Done Since The Last Post? Although I have said in my 1st post of 2018 that I felt the market is boring, but at this point, I had already made A LOT OF PURCHASES . As stated in the same post, I ventured actively into the US and HK Market. In addition, I had also tweaked some of my thoughts about the SG market and made some purchases. This came about after I decided I was STILL holding too much cash after venturing overseas  (I had about 40% to 50% of my portfolio) . In this case, I decided to make some short term investment into companies that are getting into certain "situations". This was not what I planned at the start of the year and I was taking more risk investing in these companies. However, I see the taking of ...

Review of the Counters I Wrote in 2017

As a blogger, I like to write about my analysis to keep track of what I thought of the counter previously and if the situation have change now. Therefore, I decided to do a general review on all the counters that I wrote in 2017 for this post. I believe I will be able to pick up some factors that I could improve on next year so that I can eventually make more gains! *Do note that I will only be doing a review on counters I wrote a full post on. Those that had more than 1 counters in the post will not be tagged in this review. *Click on the date to refer back to the old posts. Counter 1: Bukit Sembawang Estates Ltd ( 23 Jan 2017 ) This first article in 2017 is a counter I have been vested since 2016. Bukit Sembawang Estates Ltd is a major property giant with a huge land bank. While all the property firms are busy participating in the current en-bloc frenzy, the company do not need to do anything due to its huge land bank. Decisions In 2018 I really like Bukit S...

A Case Study On "How To Use The Ultimate Scorecard"

Image
Sometimes when you start to see other counters rise while yours just "relax one corner and lay there", you will start to doubt your method. Regardless of how much you believe in your own method, you will be tempted to do something about it.  Mr Market will sometimes test your emotions as well - Making you feel worried because they decide to flood the market with a lot of RED numbers. Nevertheless, when you hold your ground and continue to believe in yourself, Mr Market will suddenly reward you for your consistency and patience. Ellipsiz Ltd (aka Ellipsiz) is a very good case study.  I bought Ellipsiz a long time ago when it was just 30 cents.  Today, Ellipsiz just announced a good set of full year results with mouthwatering dividend. 6.5 cents of dividend in the 2nd half of the year - that's about 9.7%of dividend yield against a current price of $0.665. If we include the full year dividend of 9 cents, that's about 13.5% of dividend...

A Review Of The Recent Results Of The Small/Mid Caps In My Portfolio

Updated on 20 May 2017: I should have updated this earlier. I have actually sold off all of BBR Holdings Ltd on 16 May 2017. The main reason is due to my rebalancing of my portfolio. This is one of the counters that I had already made about 20% gain, so it seems to be good to liquidate at that point in time. The selling has nothing to do with the financials or fundamentals of the company.  Before I start, I like to apologize for the lack of post and updates on my TUB Investing Facebook Page and InvestingNote . This was because of my new role at work (I think I stated this before) and I was overseas recently. In addition, I will be on reservist soon. So the lack of updates will most probably continue. As per the title of this post, many of my small and mid caps has just released their most recent quarterly results (6 of them were released on 12 May!).  However, due to the lack of time, rather than a long lengthy analysis on each counter, I will be reviewing and commenti...

Ellipsiz Ltd - A Review of Full Year 2016 Financials

Image
Not long ago, I wrote about a low-ball offer by the substantial shareholder, Bevrian Pte Ltd. Recently, the company released its full year unaudited financial report on 2 August 2016. Based on its new financial report, I did a review of Enhanced Triple S Scorecard (Based on Share Price of $0.375): The new financial numbers in 2016 Full Year Financial Report still passed the Enhanced Triple S Scorecard! Wow...so I am already "In the money", but I am still not selling because: Increasing Dividend - The company has been increasing its full year dividend amount from 1.8 cents in 2014 to 2.5 cents in 2016. Dividend yield at the current price of $0.375 is still at 6.67%! Passed Enhanced Triple S Scorecard - Yes, even at the current price of $0.375, the company continues to pass the Enhanced Triple S Scorecard. Psst...my purchase price is at $0.300. Very Low Debt to Equity - Debt to Equity ratio remains very very very low at 0.04 only. This meant that in...

Ellipsiz Ltd - A Low Ball Offer From CEO

Image
Updated on 8/7/16: As pointed out by respective valuebuddies (sgpunter) , "...the Offer is not made by the CEO but the substantial shareholder Bevrian Pte Ltd which is an entity linked to the Lum family...This Offer was only triggered as it is mandatory to do so according to the Code of Takeovers and Mergers given that Bevrian has crossed the 30% threshold...Hence, the explanation for the seemingly "lowball" Offer. Bevrian already indicated that they intend to maintain the listing status of Ellipsiz so nobody is expecting for this Offer to go through..." I just like to give a short update on Ellipsiz Ltd. As of today, there was a low ball offer of $0.380 from the CEO. I have seem low ball offers of my watchlist stock, such as Zagro Asia Ltd, happened before and succeed. But this is my first opportunity of receiving a general offer and I am still excited (even if it is a low ball one). Anyway I have written about Ellipsiz Ltd previously, which you can r...

Triple S Scorecard – The Enhanced Version

Image
This article will be reproduced at TTTI as a guest post as well. Firstly, I like to thank TTTI for giving me the privilege to write a guest post for his blog.  After deciding for a long time, I decided to write on my creation – Triple S Scorecard – which is also unique to how I invest. In addition, this comes as a good time as I am reviewing on this scorecard as well. When I started investing in 2009/10 , I had my fair share of mistakes. It was only after reading the book, Value Investing: Tools and Technique for Intelligent Investment by James Moniter, in 2011 that I realize the need for a more consistent value-focus strategy. After reading more books, I came up with a checklist. But it was only in early 2015 that I finalized on a standard group of criteria to be in my checklist. However, I felt that I still need a more systematic and consistent way of investing, especially in Singapore Stocks. So in November 2015, Triple S Scorecard was created. Most of th...

How Did These Triple S Scorecard Stocks Fare After 1 Year?

Sorry for the prolong in-activeness of this blog as I was preparing my overseas trip and then I went overseas. Anyway after being back only for a few days, I already have a lot of topics on my mind, So here is the first topic... which relates back to my previous post - about enhancing my Triple S Scorecard. After posting on the topic, people were asking me "How did the Triple S Scorecard stocks performed for the past 1 year?" Thus, I decided to do a short summary on the stocks in my portfolio that pass the Triple S Scorecard previously and how it performed. Do note that not all the stocks in my portfolio are based on Triple S Scorecard criteria - Some are blue chips, some are dividend based stocks, while others could be deep-value investing stocks. Here are the 7 stocks in my portfolio that pass the Triple S Scorecard: *Do note that these stocks may not be bought exactly 1 year ago, but these stocks are bought because it passed the Triple S Scorecard since the sc...
